Welcome to my travel gallery. My name is Marc Tan and l live in Malaysia. It is a collection of my travel experience that l would like to share with you through my lens. Photography is not my profession but simply a passion that brings me closer to the world that l am blessed abundantly to travel extensively over the past several years. Born and brought up in Sarawak Malaysia and currently a fulltime medical practitioner by profession, I got my first camera, a Nikon D700 in late 2009. Since then, photography has become an indispensable part of my life.
I am an amateur photographer, trying to cover the beauty in most parts of the world through my lenses while I am still physically fit and healthy. My passion for travel and photography makes my life full and fulfilled as the two, TRAVEL and CAMERA go hand in hand. In the pursuit of my passion, I have traveled extensively to places like China, Tibet, Nepal, Northern India, Iceland, Italy and many more. I am more at ease with Nature. Understandably, I am more interested in shooting landscapes especially mountains. My photographic style is simple and clean, believing that the most important factor that distinguishes one photo from another is the composition of the photos. There must always be a subject to tell a story; be it something about people, a tree or a boat. During post processing, I try to create an image that displays dramatic effects, something unique with contrasting lights, giving a balance of lights and shadows.
Over the past few years, I have taken part in numerous photo competitions and God bless, I have won many international awards and medals, the latest being the winner in the Landscape Category in Nature's Best Photography(NBP) Asia 2016 for which my photo is still being displayed for a year till September 2017 at the renowned Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington,D.C.
